Meta is seeking a talented and dynamic lawyer to join the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Regulatory Litigation team as Lead Regulatory Litigation Counsel for EMEA. You will manage significant and complex contentious privacy regulatory matters and related litigation with a primary focus on Africa, Turkey and the Middle East (MEA), and advise internal legal, product, policy, operations and business teams on regulatory risks and compliance with regulatory decisions. The role requires excellent oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, strategic awareness, a strong work ethic, and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and organizational needs. You must have a keen interest in developing knowledge about legal and privacy issues in a range of countries across MEA as well as a strong interest in learning about new technologies, and the ability to explain those technologies in concise and accessible ways to complainants, regulators and judges. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Job Responsibilities:
1- Manage complex regulatory investigations, regulatory litigation and other matters across EMEA, with a primary focus on MEA
2- Guide and execute regulatory and litigation strategy in relation to high-profile, precedent setting matters with the potential for reaching the highest appellate courts across EMEA with a primary focus on MEA
3- Advise internal legal, policy, communications, product, operations and business teams on regulatory risks and compliance with regulatory decisions relating to a wide variety of data protection matters
4- Develop strategic approaches to managing regulatory risks and resolving regulatory disputes
5- Draft responses on factually and legally complex issues to regulators working collaboratively with internal legal, product, operations and business teams
Job Requirements:
1- Experience in legal drafting, advocacy and communication skills
2- Qualified lawyer in at least one jurisdiction in EMEA with 5+ years post qualified experience in a law firm or in-house, including extensive experience of regulatory matters or managing contentious matters before higher and/or appellate courts, ideally across multiple jurisdictions
3- Prior experience of litigating data protection issues preferred although candidates should be flexible and willing to work on projects in a wide variety of areas
4- Excellent problem-solving, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
